Short Day and Colds

Mike awoke this morning feeling much better after about twelve hours of sleep and two doses of NyQuil. But he's still coughing. I too, have developed quite a cough, but no other symptoms yet...

We got a leisurely start today knowing we we only going 20 miles. I went for a walk and we both took the courtesy car back to town to pick up a few things we missed yesterday. We got under way around 9:30 and were done around 1:15. There was quite a wind today - 15-20 mph - tail wind. That certainly helped keeping not-so-cold, but made the ride very choppy, with lots of pitching and rolling.

We're at Alred Marina near Guntersville, Alabama at mile 357.

We spent a lot of the afternoon and evening aboard keeping out of the rain and watching two movies (Cowboys and Aliens, and The Man Who Would Be King) on the DVD player of the laptop we brought.

Tomorrow's forecast is for 100% chance of rain and a high of 50 degrees. We're not going to travel tomorrow. We'll stay holed up here.

The map image I have been using gets a little rattier each time I edit it, so be prepared for that.

Just two photos, the map and a photo of Mike.

  1. Hi Dad! Thanks for sharing the news of your adventures. It sounds and looks like it's been great for the most part, though has tried your patience a few times. I know you hate waiting. I hope tomorrow brings good rest on your rest day. Not much news from here--I'm still extra busy at work, and Nick is back to class after Spring Break. We did have amazing weather last weekend and took the dogs rollerblading and joined some friends for a backyard BBQ. Love you!

    1. Julie,
You have VERY talented dogs! Where do you buy rollerblades for dogs?

  2. Hi Steve,
I am glad that you are not traveling tomorrow! The weather sounds ugly, especially being on a boat. Mike looks cold in today's picture, and I don't see how you two keep warm. Take care of yourselves!!

  3. I suspect it is not only the map that is getting "rattier" as you go on!
